Siem de Jong’s future at Newcastle United is very uncertain, the Dutchman spent last season on loan at PSV so wasn’t part of the rise from Championship to Premier League.
A lack of recruitment from Newcastle United so far could give De Jong hope he has a future under Rafael Benitez, but recent rumours in the English media have suggested otherwise.
There’s been claims De Jong has been offered, by Newcastle, to PSV on a permanent transfer, but the player’s agent has rubbished this.
Speaking to Voetbal International, Louis Laros said: “That’s absolute nonsense. I really know nothing about it. The club could have done it behind my back, but that seems strong because I have good contacts with Newcastle.”
Laros is hopeful that De Jong can impress Benitez enough to have a meaningful future at Newcastle, but if not, and if signings come in which would threaten the Dutchman’s chances, a transfer isn’t ruled out.
Potential opportunities are being gathered and considered, so that should the time come that De Jong has to leave St James’ Park, he’s got a good idea of where he’ll be going.
