With the situation surrounding Arkadiusz Milik’s future at Napoli still a mystery, there is a lot of speculation that Napoli could be in for a striker this summer.
If the Poland international were to leave, he would cost around €50m, which would go a long way towards funding his replacement.
The big question remains who is the right man for the job, and Bernardo Brovarone, an agent, told Radio Marte he felt it could be Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raúl Jiménez.
He said, relayed by Area Napoli: “I think the perfect striker for Napoli could be Raúl Jiménez. We’re talking about a Mexican with great personality and talent. He’s part of Jorge Mendes’ agency, the same that looks after Gennaro Gattuso”.
Brovarone then goes on to suggest other players such as Edinson Cavani and Luis Suárez (the Barcelona one), although they would likely require far greater wages than the Wolves striker.
On paper, Jiménez does fit the bill rather well, combining an impeccable eye for a goal with great movement and enough physical attributes to make defenders uncomfortable.
It’s this combination that has made him one of the more efficient forwards in the Premier League in the past couple of seasons, continuing his good form this year with 13 goals and six assists in 29 appearances under Nuno Espírito Santo at Molineux.
With a contract keeping him in Wolverhampton until 2023, he would not be cheap, but then again if Napoli get €50m for Milik, they’ll have a bit of money spare to try and convince those in charge in the West Midlands.
