The agent of Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini has told the Italian media it was the right time to move away from Serie A. The Italy international joined Southampton in the last window from Napoli, and has become an instant success.

Speaking to TMW Radio, Silvio Pagliari was asked about Gabbiadini’s move to England and whether there are any regrets with regards to leaving Napoli.

Pagliari believes at Gabbiadini’s age it was the right time to try a different adventure, and he confirmed he’s happy at Southampton. The player’s agent also highlighted that Gabbiadini didn’t get much playing time at Napoli, but still contributed to the team.

“After several years in Serie A it was time and also the right age, now we enjoy, so no. When it comes to Napoli we forget that in two years has scored 25 goals playing very little. In this respect it was a very positive experience,” said Pagliari.

Gabbiadini has made a huge impact since signing for Southampton in January, which earned him a recall to the Italian national squad. The striker has been in impressive goalscoring form, including a brace in the EFL Cup final against Manchester United.

Injury put a halt to his good start, but it seems Southampton have invested well with the forward.
