Watford star Idion Igahlo was in fine form last season, and scored 15 goals in the Premier League.
During the summer transfer window, the 27-year-old was linked with a move away from Watford, but the Premier League club were reluctant to let him leave.
Ighalo’s agent, Patrick Bastianelli, has been speaking to Radio Marte (via Calciomercato), and was asked about the reported interest from Napoli.
Bastianelli insists it’d be difficult for Napoli to sign Ighalo in January, as many clubs don’t want to spend big in the middle of the season.
He said: “He has been the protagonist of a great ride with a total of 36 goals in the last two years. In January, it may be difficult to go away, Watford and the Pozzo family has excellent relations with Napoli, but according to their corporate policy it’s difficult to sell valuable pieces in the winter market.”
Igahlo’s agent also claimed Chelsea and Manchester United wanted to sign the Nigerian international, but Watford were in no mood to even begin negotiations.
He added: “Last year he was followed and also wanted by Chelsea and Manchester United but Watford had not even sat down to deal with it.
“In football anything can happen, let’s see. ”
Igahlo’s poor form towards the second half of last season, and a slow start this season could force any interested club to look elsewhere.
The Nigerian has managed just one goal in 7 league appearances this season, and has a contract until 2021.
