On Friday, reports from the Argentine and the French media started claiming that Manchester City could loan Julian Alvarez to Marseille this summer.
The striker is joining Pep Guardiola’s side in a transfer from River Plate, and facing the competition of Erling Haaland for the position, it was claimed he could join Jorge Sampaoli’s club to get more experience.
The rumour made quite a big noise in the Argentine press, and it turns out that it was quickly dismissed by the striker’s entourage.
TyC Sports managed to contact Alvarez’s agent Fernando Hidalgo, and they say the representative claimed ‘there are no chances’ for the player to move to Marseille this summer.
Manchester City have already claimed their wish is to have Alvarez available in their squad for next season, but since those comments by Guardiola and club officials were made before the signing of Haaland, there’s a little hope from interested clubs that the Argentine could still be available.
However, for now, it seems there’s nothing between Alvarez and Marseille.
