Currently on a spell at Spanish side Girona, Manchester City loanee Marlos Moreno is reportedly close on switching clubs this month.
According to several reports in Brazil, the player is very likely to be joining Flamengo on a new loan deal from the Premier League side.
Website Globo Esporte claims the player’s agent Humberto Quiceno is currently in Rio de Janeiro, where he’s expected to close the deal. Flamengo’s intention would be to count on the player until the end of 2018.
An interesting aspect is that Marlos Moreno was indicated to Flamengo by manager Reinaldo Rueda, who worked with the player during the Libertadores winning campaign at Atletico Nacional in 2016.
But Rueda is now taking charge of the Chile national team, who paid his release clause this week. So in case Moreno’s move is confirmed, he won’t be able to meet his former boss at the Brazilian club.
Signed by Manchester City on a €5.5m deal in the summer of 2016, Moreno has a contract with the club until 2021.
He failed to make an impact at Girona and if he’s got any hope of impressing Pep Guardiola then he needs to find his feet again soon.
