It’s quite touching how much Erik Lamela remains a theme in the Italian sport media.

Ever since he move to Tottenham, the Argentine has been linked with a return to Serie A and there’s clearly a great deal of admiration for the player.

A week ago Gazzetta dello Sport reported Lamela could be a ‘surprise option’ for Inter Milan in the January transfer window.

Luciano Spalletti has other priorities but the suggestion was Lamela could become more of an option as the window grows older.

That’s a theme carried on by TMW this week, who present the Tottenham player as an option for Inter Milan, and basically any other Italian club.

The website say any Italian team would be ready to welcome Lamela ‘with open arms’.

Whilst nothing looks likely at the moment, TMW explain ‘anything can happen’ as the window grows older.

It’s suggested that despite being on high wages at Tottenham, relative to what most Serie A clubs would pay, Lamela could be tempted by the chance to be a crucial player at a club, rather than one of several options for a manager.

They love him in Italy, that’s clear, and when Lamela and Tottenham decide to part ways, the Argentine will surely have no shortage of offers from Serie A.
