Bought last summer to bolster Arsenal’s attacking options, Lucas Perez hasn’t exactly had the season he hoped for at the Emirates, and now he wants out.
There have been rumblings in Spain over the past week that Wenger could let him, with more than one Spanish club interested, including Valencia.
Plaza Deportiva on Wednesday appear to have got hold of the player’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, who told them they’ve asked for a transfer.
He said: “We’ve spoken with Arsenal, and let them know that we want to leave, and they’ve said they won’t stand in our way. They also said they won’t just give him away.”
The agent also explained that Perez would like to return to his home country if possible, with his former club, Deportivo La Coruña, who will also be playing Europa League football, at the top of his list.
However, that doesn’t mean the player will be able to go wherever he wants, because Arsenal still have a say in the player’s destination, most likely to the club who pay the most money for him.
One on his way out from the Emirates, then. Who will replace him?
