Jonathan Biabiany’s agent has confirmed that Chelsea tried to sign his client towards the end of the January transfer window.

Speaking to Italian website Calciomercato today, the representative tried to clarify the player’s future and mentioned the chances he has to leave his club.

Specifically talking about the Blues’ interest, Davide Bega said: “Yes, it’s true: Chelsea wanted him. It was a specific request from Antonio Conte, who also spoke to try to convince him, but it was too late to go to the Premier League.

“The request came late on Sunday night, the market closed on Tuesday night. There wasn’t enough time ”

This is quite an interesting move from Antonio Conte to do. Babiany spend the past months trying to get chances at Inter Milan, but all he could have were 149 minutes of play in the entire season.

In the past ten years, Babiany has left and joined Inter Milan many times due to the club’s insistence in loaning him out. He was finally sold to Sampdoria and then transferred to Parma, where he did well for a couple of seasons.

The player got close to join Milan in 2014, but failed his medical after being diagnosed with cardiac dysrhythmia. After recovering from his problem and breaking his contract with Parma, he rejoined Inter Milan in 2015, where he’s still to convince he deserves a place.
