There’s no doubt Darwin Nuñez is the man of the moment in Portugal. Not only because of the six goals he scored this start of season, but mostly due to his performance in Benfica’s win over Barcelona in the Champions League.
Now with the Italian media always on the money regarding transfer rumours, website FC Inter News features a good interview with the striker’s agent Edgardo Lasalvia.
The outlet pointed out the striker has been linked to the likes of Inter Milan, Milan and Manchester United, and asked if those claims of interest are true.
“Darwin is ready to play in any team on the globe,” Lasalvia told FC Inter News.
“Various top-level teams have contacted us, but for the moment the head is on continuing and growing with Benfica and with the Uruguayan national team: this is how important things will come.”
“They have a lot of things in common. We’re convinced that Darwin is destined for great things.
“The important thing is that he is happy now and wants to repay the trust of Benfica and the affection of the people by winning a title. We’ll discuss the transfer possibilities with the club executives if necessary, as it should be. For the moment we’re calm and happy to see him on the pitch.”
With Manchester United scouting Benfica at the weekend, reports from the Portuguese press said the Red Devils’ officials were at the Estádio da Luz ‘precisely’ to watch Darwin Nuñez. The club had already seen other performances from him this season, including the game against Barcelona.
Last season, with 14 goals and 12 assists, the striker had already had a great year for Benfica. Now with this form shown in the past couple of months, it’s becoming clear that a race for his signing will soon be formed.
