Tottenham Hotspur fullback Sergio Reguilón is ‘offered to Barcelona’, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, relayed by Fichajes.net.
The 25-year-old has seen his playing time restricted this calendar year as he’s been restricted to only eight appearances and two of them were in the FA Cup.
In the last nine league matches, the Spain international started only four times and was left as an unused substitute on four occasions. The report states the former Real Madrid man is ‘not having a good time’ at the north London club.
He is fighting for a place in the starting lineup as his performances have ‘not been the best’, which is why Antonio Conte has ‘rotated a lot’ in that position. As a fullback/wing-back, it’s claimed the left-back does not fit into Spurs’ plans.
Jordi Alba is the first-choice player in that position, with Alejandro Balde as the 32-year-old’s backup.
The former has only a few years ahead of him in his playing career, while Xavi Hernández does not trust Balde. Therefore, the Spanish giants are looking for a new left-back.
Barca have been handling a few names, including Valencia’s José Luis Gaya, and Conte’s man is now on the table at the Camp Nou. The Tottenham player is an ‘option’, but a decision on him has not been made yet by the Blaugrana.
Reguilón would ‘not look badly on returning to Spain’. The left-back dreamed of rejoining Real Madrid, but, at the moment, it’s not clear what will happen to his future.
