Diego Carlos’ agent has travelled to Seville to ‘make a firm offer’ for the player from Aston Villa.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say a deal is rapidly progressing between the two sides.
Reports over the last week have made it clear that Aston Villa are keen on the Brazilian, with several today stating that things were progressing at a rapid pace.
They explained that Villa were willing to match Sevilla’s demands for the player, which are believed to be set at €50m.
Negotiations were progressing, and Mundo now say a big milestone has been passed, reporting that his agent met officials of the Nervión in Andalucia to ‘make a firm offer for the player’.
Sevilla are willing to accept as they’ve made it clear they need big sales this summer, and Carlos and his teammate Jules Koundé are the names at the top of the list.
They rejected a move from Newcastle for Carlos in January but agreed to facilitate his departure if a proposal that satisfied all parties arrived this summer, as they need to cover a deficit of €41m in the books before the end of June.
Aston Villa are ‘firmly in favour’ of getting a deal for Carlos over the line, and while they could face competition from AC Milan, it seems the Rossoneri can’t match Steven Gerrard’s side ‘economically’.
It means that ‘few doubt’ his future will be in the Premier League at Villa Park, with the Villans first bid already deposited.
