On Wednesday, France Football pipped the English press to the story that Manchester United and Real Sociedad had agreed terms regarding the transfer of Adnan Januzaj.
The report stated the Spanish side, set to play Europa League football next season, were prepared to pay €11m for the Belgian forward, adding the player was still to agree personal terms.
Well, according to local newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa, the Manchester United player’s agent was set to travel on Thursday to Spain in order to meet with Real Sociedad’s chairman Jokin Aperribay and talk wages.
With quite a few other clubs interested, a guarantee of regular first-team football would go a long way to convince the player and his entourage that this is the right move for him, and with reports back in May that Carlos Vela could end up in the MLS, a spot down the right could very well open up for him.
The Spanish outlet state that Januzaj wants to find a club and a league that fits his technical abilities, with La Liga top of the list.
David Moyes, during his brief stint at Real Sociedad, already wanted him, and it appears the club never quite got the prospect of bringing in a Manchester United player out of their head.
If it works out for them, they’ll at least be able to thank the former Sunderland manager for one thing.
If it doesn’t, then they can do what everyone else does, and that’s blame David Moyes.
