Besiktas’ search for a striker is set to continue in the January transfer window and now they’ve been linked with West Ham United’s Jonathan Calleri. GüneşSpor say West Ham’s Argentine forward has been offered to Besiktas by the player’s agent, and the 23-year old could be the back-up option for KaraKartal if Samuel Eto’o joins Trabzonspor.
Calleri is expected to leave West Ham in the next transfer window and Besiktas would be keen on help from their former manager Slaven Bilic as the Turkish club will ask the West Ham boss about the player’s qualities.
Normally, Besiktas don’t listen to agent offers, but the club’s scouting committee know Calleri very well since his Boca Juniors days, and have informed president Fikret Orman that he can be a good signing.
Besiktas will investigate Calleri in the coming days, but due to 3 different third parties currently owning his rights it will certainly making things a bit difficult. GüneşSpor understands the managerial company which owned his rights across the Europe will demand a €3m loan fee for Calleri, and Besiktas now want to negotiate in order to get the fee reduced.
Dubbed as the ‘New Aguero’ Calleri has been unable to adapt to life in England. Calleri has played only 135 minutes of Premier League football this season and has yet to score.
Loaned by West Ham for a fee around €4m in the summer, his days in England look numbered.
