Real Madrid star Isco has decided to stall contract renewal talks until the summer, reports Spanish newspaper AS. The Spaniard has 18 months left on his current deal, but wants to wait before making a decision on his future.

AS say there isn’t a lack of interest in the 24-year-old. Manchester City have their eyes set on him, whilst Tottenham made an attempt to sign him in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been repeatedly linked to Isco, but that’s seemed through a force of habit, rather than more genuine White Hart Lane interest.

Manchester City were heavily linked whilst Manuel Pellegrini was manager, given that he coached Isco so well at Malaga. Premier League sides could face competition from Italy, as Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also keeping close tabs on him.

Isco wants to continue at Real Madrid, but has managed just over 600 minutes of football this season, and the player wants to wait and see if his situation changes between now and the end of the season.

The lack of game time helped contribute to Tottenham and Manchester City links but whilst the idea of the sides battling Real Madrid for the player is set up, there doesn’t appear to be anything genuinely new.

Real Madrid would like to extend Isco’s contract until 2022, and there doesn’t seem to be an issue with his salary demands either, but the player wants to take his time especially with the next World Cup just around the corner in 2018.

The former Malaga player also wants to wait and see the transfer activities of Real Madrid in the summer, as that’d give him a clear idea of his position at the club.

Tottenham and Manchester City look set to be linked with Isco until the Spaniard retires.
