One of the many, many, many Chelsea players out on loan around Europe and the world this season, Mario Pasalic has made it clear he wants his Stamford Bridge situation sorted.
Clearly not in Maurizio Sarri’s plans going forward, the Croatian is currently at Atalanta, where he’s enjoyed a rollercoaster of a season, never quite confirming a starter spot without ever falling out of favour either.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, the player’s agent was asked about Pasalic’s future, who made it clear his client’s favoured choice would be to stay with the Serie A club going forward.
He said: “We haven’t set up a meeting yet. The redemption price is fixed, but our desire is clear. There isn’t a better place to grow. If the team wants to keep Mario, there is total open-mindedness. He would be happy if he stayed, it would be for the best.”
Praising both Atalanta and Gian Piero Gasperini for their faith in his client, Marko Naletilic revealed there had been offers for Pasalic’s services in January, which everyone ignored, as he made it clear staying put would be for the best.
Changing clubs six times in the last six years, Pasalic clearly wants stability, and the only way he will get that is if he manages to secure an exit from Chelsea in the next few months.
That appears to be everyone’s desire, at least on the player’s side.
It will now be up to Atalanta to decide whether they feel he is worth spending €15m on come the end of the campaign.
