On Sunday we covered a big claim from Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that Pawel Cibicki is on the verge of a move to Elfsborg.
The Leeds United owned player spent the first half of the season on loan at Molde, but the Norwegian season has now ended and won’t start again until March, so his loan ended.
Cibicki was said to be ‘very close’ to a move, with Leeds and Elfsborg agreeing the outlines of a deal, but not the specifics, which would initially be on a loan basis.
Fotbollskanalen, also in Sweden, have it slightly different. Whilst they agree Cibicki could be heading back to Swedish football, and that there’s concrete interest, they add that IFK Norrköping are also keen on a deal.
Even staying at Leeds a while, just on a training basis, and then returning to Molde isn’t ruled out, but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now at Manchester United that could change things.
Before he left, Solskjaer has said Cibicki would be set for a ‘new opportunity’ in Leeds, but that doesn’t seem likely right now.
Fotbollskanalen have contacted the player’s agent Filip Lesniewski about a transfer, and he sent them a message: “No comments. Formally, Pawel and Molde players are off until December 31st. Merry Christmas.”
So it seems like nothing will be done until then.
