Christian Benteke will not be leaving Crystal Palace this summer, despite reports to the contrary.
That’s according to his agent Kismet Eris, who has insisted his client will be staying in London for the foreseeable future.
Benteke signed a new contract with Crystal Palace last year that’s set to run until June 2023, meaning he will be in the final year of his deal this summer.
That means the club will have to make a decision about his future or risk losing the striker on a free transfer next year.
He has been a regular for Crystal Palace this season with 31 appearances in all competitions but has only managed 11 starts in the Premier League and has only managed 48 minutes since the 23rd of January.
In fact, he hasn’t managed 90 minutes since a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in November, leading to suggestions he could move on this summer.
There have been reports about a potential return to Belgium or even a move to Turkey, but his agent has insisted he won’t be leaving London.
“Christian has had more difficult seasons, but he is very happy in London. Returning to Belgium is not on the agenda,” he told Sudinfo when asked about the striker’s future.
They report that the striker enjoys living in the capital and ‘intends to respect’ his contract until its expiry, even though his situation is ‘not the easiest’ at Crystal Palace.
Of course, that could always change if he gets a good offer from elsewhere this summer, but at the minute, that hasn’t appeared, and his intention is to remain where he is.
