On Tuesday, Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger reported Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji is close to completing a move to Manchester United.
Berger had also explained the defender will soon make a trip to the UK to seal his move to the Etihad.
Several reports in the British press have also stated Manchester City are edging closer to completing the deal for the 27-year-old. He was wanted by a few Serie A sides, but the development with the Citizens will now see him move to England.
They add the centre-back’s entourage is already in Manchester to finalise the ‘last details of the agreement’ with the Premier League winners.
It’s claimed the Switzerland international, for his part, is set to arrive in Manchester and carry out his medical tests with the Citizens on Wednesday morning.
After completing these tests, Akanji’s move to Manchester City should be formalised soon. With that, the player will not only say goodbye to Dortmund, but also to Serie A, where some clubs showed interest in him.
