Gremio attacker Luan is one of the hottest prospects in South American football, with several European clubs interested in him.
This summer there have been claims Liverpool are keen on the Brazil international, as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options.
Sampdoria were heavily interested in him, and it was said Fenerbahce and Liverpool could join the race to get him, even if a Sport Witness source claimed Liverpool’s interest was “just smoke”.
Earlier this month there’s been further insistence that Liverpool are keen, with claims the club sent someone to watch Luan in action for Gremio. Once again this proved not to be the case.
In recent weeks Luan has appeared to be very close to a move to Russian club Spartak Moscow for €20m, with reports at the start of the month an agreement had reached.
Russian sports daily Sport Express cite his agent Jair Peixoto, who confirmed the latest on the future of Luan: “The issue of the transfer of Luan to Spartak Moscow is almost closed. I can say almost certainly that he will not move to a Moscow club, I can say that with 95% confidence.”
He added: :”The footballer is not interested in continuing his career in Russia and is waiting on proposals from the European super clubs.”
Sport Express suggest suggested his teammates from Brazil national team advised him against a move to Russia.
Poor Russia. If Liverpool interest was ever real, then right about now is the time to make a move.
