There’s good and bad news for Everton and Newcastle hopes of signing Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaru.
The Premier League clubs, who had their interest confirmed by the player’s agent last month, could now be finding some competition for his signing in January.
That’s because according to Super Deporte today, Valencia have him as a target for the winter market and have already started contacts with Juventus.
The good news is: Valencia can’t afford a permanent deal right now, and that’s why they’ve been trying a loan move.
But Juve don’t seem interested, as they want to offload the player in only one shot.
Valencia’s hopes are that Juve are looking to sign Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla, and in case they do it in January, that would make Sturaro’s departure easier.
The same principle would go for Everton and Newcastle.
Super Deporte doesn’t have a say on the competition, maybe because they don’t want to consider there’d be a fight. It’s clear Juve would favour the clubs who have money up front, and that shouldn’t be a problem for either Everton or Newcastle.
Under a month ago, Sturaro’s agent said: “It’s pleasing that during each transfer window, Stefano is in demand in Italy and abroad. In the Premier League, for example, the attention tends to come from clubs like Everton and Newcastle.”
Sturaro is a very versatile player and, regardless of what Super Deporte think, that would surely go against a transfer in January.
