Napoli star Jorginho has long been a transfer target for Manchester City. The midfielder’s agent had earlier stressed that his client will join Pep Guardiola’s side, if the Premier League winners manage to agree a deal.
Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web reported the two clubs are still ‘dancing’ over bonuses with the player, which is around €2.5m in future add ons. City and Napoli have still not reached an agreement for the transfer of the Brazil-born Italian international.
City remain hopeful that they can find an agreement with the Serie A club over this small fee, which will then allow them to sign the 26-year-old. Jorginho’s agent Joa Santos has now come out and revealed the English champions are “working to satisfy” the demands of Napoli to secure the midfielder’s signature.
“Manchester City are working to satisfy the demands of Napoli, which can turn out to be good at any moment,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, via CalcioNapoli24.it.
Santos also confirmed he is currently in England, while Jorginho is in South America. He is waiting for a green signal from the leaders of Napoli to meet City officials to complete the transfer.
“The player is now in Brazil, while I am in England waiting for a call from one of Cristiano Giuntoli [sports director] and Aurelio De Laurentiis [president]. As soon as they call me, I will proceed to meet the leaders of Manchester City.”
CalcioNapoli24 earlier reported the deal is now close to being done, with there being a breakthrough on the agreement.
