Barcelona have long been chasing Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, who turned 23 years of age earlier this month. The Frenchman has a €35m release clause in his contract at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
We carried several reports talking about the Catalan club’s interest in signing the central defender. Sport claims that Lenglet has said “yes” to joining Ernesto Valverde’s side in the summer transfer window.
Another report from the same publication has backed Barcelona to complete the Sevilla defender’s signature on July 1st. Estadio Deportivo now says Lenglet has asked for time until the end of this month to make a decision on his future.
Sevilla’s new director of football Joaquín Caparros and manager Pablo Machin has already held talks with their star and given him confidence that he can be a key player at the club. The two of them also have also met Lenglet’s agent Gregory Dakad.
The player’s representative has admitted a move to Camp Nou would be good for his client. Dakad also stressed there is a possibility that Lenglet could continue at Sevilla.
“Barcelona would be a good project. Maybe on July 3rd (when pre-season begins) let’s see Lenglet in Seville,” Dakad told Estadio Deportivo.
