Everton this week became the latest English club to join the chase for FC Nantes’ Randal Kolo Muani.
Earlier this week, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna explained the Toffees ‘checked’ the 22-year-old’s name for this summer.
L’Equipe claim the France U21 international has now emerged as a target for Lyon.
The Ligue1 side will need to bring in a replacement for Memphis Depay, who will leave the club as a free agent. Their ‘deteriorated financial situation’ means they cannot bring in a player of same stature as the Dutchman.
Lyon are targeting a young attacker, available at a relatively low price, and Randal Kolo Muani fits that bill. They waited for the season to be over to make contact with his entourage. The ‘first discussion’ took place earlier this week.
The versatile attacker is followed by several clubs outside France, like Everton, Eintracht Frankfurt and others.
Randal Kolo Muani, however, prefers to continue in Ligue 1 and this would make it hard for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to acquire his services in the summer.
Lille also have expressed their interest and therefore, it won’t be easy for Lyon to land the Nantes star, whose contract expires in 2022.
In the event Lyon fail to secure the player’s signature in the coming months, they would prefer to wait until January, hoping to reach an agreement to sign him on a free transfer.
