Following claims that Harry Winks was giving himself time to mull over an offer from Sampdoria to leave Tottenham for the season, the deal appears to be heading in the right direction.
This comes courtesy of TuttoMercatoWeb, who reveal there has been an ‘acceleration’ between the Serie A side and the Spurs midfielder, as negotiations between the two parties ‘would have been unlocked in the past few hours’.
The Tottenham youth product, who has never played for another team in his life, seems to be edging closer to a temporary exit, although it seems that if everything goes well, he could end up staying in Genoa.
That’s because the Italian website state the deal would be a ‘paid loan with the right of redemption and part of the salary’ paid by Spurs.
In fact, there is now a ‘yes between the parties’, after the player ‘accepted the proposal’, which would see Tottenham ‘pay another two months salary’.
The 26-year-old has yet to make an appearance under Antonio Conte this season, who made a point of further reinforcing his midfield with the signing of Yves Bissouma following the arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur in January.
This means Winks was pushed even further down the pecking order, leaving him little choice but to find somewhere else to get minutes this season.
