There are various takes on Barcelona and Erling Haaland in Saturday’s Catalan sport media.
Mundo Deportivo have a slightly optimistic slant which says the Blaugrana may be able to go for the Borussia Dortmund star if they manage to sell players and reduce their salary bill.
Sport have Haaland on the front page, however it’s explained there’s serious competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. Mundo had earlier mentioned Los Blancos and Chelsea.
Aside from all the hype around Haaland, Sport have a smaller article stating that signing a striker is ‘the absolute priority’ for Barcelona in the summer window.
A move for Lautaro Martinez is said to have failed last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Argentine remained at Inter Milan.
With only Martin Braithwaite as a recognised No.9, ‘all economic efforts’ will be made to bring in another option. That said, there’s a possibility ‘lower cost alternatives’ to Haaland will be considered.
Barcelona are looking for someone to help ‘in the coming seasons’, so a striker who could have an impact now and in the years to come.
