Chelsea allowed John Terry to leave the club as a free agent in 2017 and the defender joined Aston Villa the same summer, only to leave the Championship club at the end of last season.
Since then, the former England international has been without a club and the 37-year-old had expressed his desire to continue his playing career during an interview with the Daily Mail.
According to Sky Italia, the central defender is close to joining Spartak Moscow on a one-year deal with an option to further extend it by a year and he will begin his new adventure in Russia.
It’s also claimed that the west London club’s legend had his medical at Villa Stuart in the Italian capital today, prior to is move to the Russian outfit.
Massimo Carrera’s side decided to make an approach for Terry after Samuel Gigot suffered a serious injury, which could force him to miss the remainder of the season.
Aston Villa had also been interested in getting the player back, but it would appear they’ve lost out.
