According to reports in the Belgian media, Marcelo Bielsa wants to be reunited with Jan van Winckel if he takes the vacant Leeds United manager’s job.
Bielsa, pictured below with his former assistant manager, has been linked with a move to Elland Road over the past week.
Voetbal Belgie report Bielsa has telephoned Van Winckel about the possibility of joining him at Leeds United after reports the South American is close to taking the job.
The pair worked together at Marseille for one season, where the Belgian coach assisted Bielsa and obviously left an impression.
Van Winckel is currently an advisor at KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk after Saudi investors pumped money into the Belgian club. However, it seems Van Winckel will not be joining Bielsa at Leeds United after turning down the offer to join the Argentine in England.
Leeds United are currently in talks to install Bielsa as their next manager with claims from Argentina that a work permit is the next step.
