Until William Carvalho leaves Sporting, and probably even then, Arsenal will continue to be linked with a move for William Carvalho.
Of all the English clubs linked, and there have been plenty, it’s Arsenal who have probably been more covered in the Portuguese in recent years. And now they’re back.
With Jornal de Notcias reporting a Carvalho exit from Sporting is ‘on the verge’ of happening, Arsenal are presented as a possible destination.
The Gunners are once again credited with interest in the player, and the asking price is put at €40m, it hasn’t dropped after recent fall-outs at the Portuguese club. Rui Patricio, Sporting and Portugal goalkeeper, is also available at €15m.
Much will depend on who takes over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, and how much transfer control the new manager is given this summer.
With Sven Mislintat’s targets expected to be on the agenda, it looks like the new manager won’t simply get whoever he wants.
Arsenal and Mislintat may well feel they can get better options for €40m than the Sporting player, with the Portuguese club not known for bargains.
Regardless, Jornal de Notcias make it simple: A William transfer is on the verge of happening, and if Arsenal want to be the destination, it’ll be €40m.
