Bringing Roman Abramovich into Chelsea managerial and player chases always seems to be a favourite of the European media.
Getting the club’s owner involved in rumours has a benefit of making everything sound a little more dramatic, and more than simply a guess.
Mundo Deportivo use the formula with Chelsea and Luis Enrique on Thursday, as they look at where the former Barcelona manager could end up this summer.
After a year long sabbatical, largely spent cycling, Enrique is widely expected to return to management, and there should be several opportunities awaiting him.
The Catalan newspaper say Antonio Conte is involved in several dressing room ‘wars’ at Chelsea, and will therefore be edged towards the exit.
As his replacement, Abramovich has ‘fallen in love’ with Enrique, and is already preparing a move for the Spaniard.
Enrique would likely be a completely different character for Chelsea’s squad, but the manager would still be demanding and has the experience of dealing with some of the biggest players in world football.
There’s going to be many more Spanish reports on this between now and the summer and it’s a good bet Abramovich will star in many of them.
