As the days go by, it appears West Ham are edging ever closer to signing Jonathan Bamba from AS Saint-Etienne.
That doesn’t mean they’ll get their man, but, as things stand, they appear to be in the lead, according to But! Football Club in France.
With Newcastle and Huddersfield targeting the forward in the past, as well as a number of teams around Europe, there will be competition for David Moyes and his recruiting team, and a lot will, of course, probably depend on what goes on between now and the end of the season.
The French outlet, who tend to be fairly decent when it comes to Saint-Etienne, explain the France U21 international has received a number of offers from interested teams, but that West Ham ‘hold the lead’ on the deal.
There’s also the possibility that Bamba signs a new contract with his current side, but considering that hasn’t happened yet and he’s been ‘suspended’ because talks haven’t gone well in the past, that doesn’t seem likely.
Good news for the Hammers, then.
