Former Galatasaray assistant manager Ayhan Akman has spoken to Turkish newspaper Fotomac about Newcastle United target Garry Rodrigues.
The Cape Verde international has been linked with the Premier League side in recent months, following claims they’ve made two bids for the player.
Akman was the assistant manager to former Galatasaray boss Igor Tudor, and the pair were decisive in bringing Rodrigues to the Turkish club just over 12 months ago.
Asked about Rodrigues, Akman said: “He’s a very athletic football player. In the Premier League there is more space, this may be useful.
“However, he needs his game to be a bit more mature. There are problems in his final pass.”
Last week it was reported in the Turkish press Newcastle United made another attempt to sign the 27 year old when they tabled a bid of €9m for the winger during the winter window.
The Magpies had previously offered €6m in the last summer transfer window, with both efforts being knocked back.
It was claimed yesterday Galatasaray are expecting another offer from Newcastle United in the summer, but the English side may have to bid in the region of €15m.
