The Italian media have gone Tottenham Hotspur crazy.
Tuesday’s match between Spurs and Juventus in Turin is being seen as a huge deal in Italy, and one of the most exciting draws of the current Champions League round.
There’s been interviews with players present and past and people associated with the London club, and now Tuttosport have spoken to Jonathan Barnett, agent of Gareth Bale.
Being a Turin newspaper, Tuttosport have a special Juventus interest and they asked Barnett if it’s true the player almost ended up at the club.
Bale’s agent dismissed that, but did reveal there had been another Italian club trying to sign the player before he left Spurs: “No. The most concrete interest was from another Italian club, but I cannot tell you more: these are reserved matters. Tottenham, however, said no.”
Tuttosport asked Barnett about Harry Kane’s future, and the agent completely refused to answer, saying he won’t speak about footballers he doesn’t represent.
On Spurs being so tough in transfer negotiations, Barnett explained it’s all been part of the club’s aims to grow: “The president, Daniel Levy, has done a great job: now Tottenham are among the big 6 of the Premier. And thanks to the new stadium, really world class, he can grow them further.”
