Manchester City beat Newcastle United 3-1 on Saturday, and Sergio Aguero was undoubtedly the star of the show.
With a hat-trick against Rafa Benitez’s men, Aguero showed Pep Guardiola he’s still an important part of Manchester City’s future and can lead the team forwards.
The Argentine’s efforts have been noticed by Gazzetta dello Sport, who name the Manchester City man in their European Team of the Week.
Every Monday the Italian newspaper pick out a selection of the best performers around Europe, whilst ignoring their own Serie A, and Aguero was one of three Premier League stars to make the selection.
Eden Hazard and Nacho Monreal also found their way in, as well as other stars including Gareth Bale and Thomas Muller.
Manchester City have repeatedly had players in Gazzetta’s team this season, but it’s not often been Aguero and he’ll be full of confidence after being the main man again.
Guardiola wants his team to go for a record points total this season, and having Aguero on form will certainly help.
