Arsenal interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has come at a good time for Borrussia Dortmund, because they’re sick of him.
An absolute plus on the pitch, BVB have had enough of the player’s excesses.
Behaviour which was once see as quirky or eccentric is now downright annoying, and the German media are picking up on everything they can find to show just what an irritant Auba is.
All this doesn’t mean Dortmund will sell the player on the cheap, with there being a fear in some quarters that could reward him for acting like a clown.
According to Kicker’s own information, the ‘pain threshold’ for a transfer is €70m, the striker can leave for that amount.
But it’s made clear that Arsenal haven’t been ready to offer that, indeed they haven’t offered anything. Nobody has. Kicker make it abundantly clear there’s been no offers for Aubameyang, either directly or through an agent.
Olivier Giroud is an option for Dortmund, as he has been since the summer, but without an offer for Auba, there’s not really a lot to do.
On Friday morning, Arsene Wenger spoke about the BVB player in his press conference, saying he’s the type of character Arsenal may need. Dortmund aren’t happy, since releasing a statement saying: “We find it disrespectful to comment on players from other clubs. There is no contact with Arsenal. We assume that Arsene Wenger has enough to do to care about with the performance of his own players.”
