According to claim in the Swedish media, Plymouth are showing an interest in Bristol City forward Gustav Engvall.
The Swede spent last season on loan with Djurgårdens, after failing to hold a place down in Lee Johnston’s Bristol City starting eleven.
Fotbol Direkt have today reported Plymouth are monitoring the situation with Engvall, and could move in on the young forward. It’s been revealed talks have yet to commence between Plymouth and Bristol City, but the Pilgrims see the player as an option.
The Swedish football outlet believe the transfer would be similar to Marcus Antonsson’s move from Leeds United to Blackburn Rovers last summer.
Since Antonsson left Leeds United for Blackburn Rovers the 26 year old has managed to kickstart his career, scoring seven goals this season, and it’s hoped Engvall could do likewise if he joined Plymouth.
It’s a nice idea, but just because it’s worked out for Antonsson, it doesn’t mean other players will have the same fate.
