According to a claim in the Italian media, Torino are the latest club to distance themselves from signing Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason.
Earlier today we covered reports from Italy that Parma are unlikely to pursue the Iceland international due to economic reasons.
Calciomercato have reported Torino have pulled out of the race to the sign the Aston Villa player after being linked with the 29 year old in this window. The Serie A side previously tried to sign Bjarnason in 2015 when he was playing for Pescara.
It’s been claimed unless there are any changes in Torino’s outlook in this transfer window then the club’s president Urban Cairo is unlikely to bring in the midfielder.
It now seems Bjarnason’s chances of a return to Italy are looking slim, with Parma more or less out of the race to sign the Aston Villa man.
There have been reports Parma managed to get an agreement with Bjarnason, but were then unable to meet Aston Villa’s demands.
