Earlier on Monday, we covered a story from Calciomercato.it claiming Nice had been offered Theo Walcott on loan until the end of the season.
We had a few issues with it, namely the fact he apparently ‘offered himself’ to AC Milan last week, which is something Corriere dello Sport stand by firmly in their Monday edition.
The Italian newspaper explain that, as things stand, Walcott is currently waiting for the Serie A club’s answer to his ‘offer’, and wants to know if there’s any chance of him transferring to the club in the near future.
Another reason for this impatience appears to now be Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday, a competition in which Walcott was hoping to get some time on the pitch if a move didn’t materialise in January.
With just the Europa League and Carling Cup at the 28-year-old’s disposal, since Arsène Wenger seems very reluctant to use him in the Premier League, and hopes of making England squad for the World Cup, a move might be required.
Here’s hoping AC Milan don’t just ghost Walcott. That would be plain rude.
