Earlier today we covered claims from Portugal that Leeds United are in talks to sign Sporting CP central defender Tobias Figueiredo, and it seems they’ve had their eye on the player in recent weeks.
The Championship side are said to be keen to sign the 23 year old in the next transfer window, and a fee of €4m has been floated about.
Leeds United don’t expect to face competition to sign Figueiredo in the new year, with claims they’re the only club to make contact for the player.
The Elland Road club will be confident they can get a deal done for Figueiredo, after dealing with the Portuguese giants over the signing of Hadi Sacko this summer.
It looks like Leeds United have done their homework, or at least tried to, on Figueiredo after reports in November a scout was sent to the game between Paços de Ferreira and Sporting Lisbon, along with AS Monaco and Borussia Dortmund.
Leeds United have been to other Sporting games recently, and there’s been one major problem – Tobias Figueiredo doesn’t play.
So far out of the picture he’s lucky to get on the bench, for the last round of matches the defender was with Sporting’s second string.
