According to a claim in the Swedish media, Watford goalkeeper target Pontus Dahlberg is close to leaving IFK Goteborg, and the Allsvenskan club already have a replacement in mind for the 18 year old.

Dahlberg has been linked with a transfer to Watford in recent weeks, with reports they are set to hold talks with his agent about a move to the Premier League.

Fotbol Direkt say Dahlberg is close to a transfer, and that IFK are looking to life without their No.1

The Swedish football outlet report IFK are looking to bring in Kalmar FF Keeper Lucas Hägg-Johansson if Dahlberg is to move in the next window. IFK currently have Erik Dahlin and John Alvbåge under contract at the club, but it seems they will still look to sign Johansson.

The Swedish side need to raise funds due to financial pressures, and it seems very likely the Sweden U21 international will be sold for around 33m to 35m Krona (up to £3.1m) in the new year.

The fee isn’t an issue for Watford, despite it being a transfer record for a Swedish goalkeeper, but the Premier League side will need to get a deal done quickly with Napoli and RB Leipzig also strongly interested in the youngster.
