After the departure of Tony Pulis last week, Fanatik say West Bromwich Albion are no longer interested in Fenerbahçe midfielder Josef de Souza.
It was recently claimed in Turkey the midfielder travelled to England to hold talks with the Premier League side, and that a deal was close. However, at the time Pulis was hanging on to his West Brom job, and following his sacking the Premier League side are said to no longer be interested in Souza.
At the weekend Souza also spoke to the media about a move to England, after his side’s victory against Antalyaspor: “I want to stay at Fenerbahce. I’m happy at the club, and I want to play my football here.
“It’s true that there was a possibility of a transfer (to West Brom) at the beginning of the season, but I decided to stay. I want to extend my contract with Fenerbahce, and become champions.”
West Brom tried to sign Souza in the last transfer window, and despite agreeing a fee the deal never materialised.
The player has continued to be linked with a move to the Hawthorns, but with Pulis no longer at West Brom it seems he’ll remain in Istanbul, with the possibility of getting a contract extension.
