The Portuguese media now add to the claims Everton have been in negotiations to bring Paulo Fonseca to manage the club.
It’s O Jogo who are claiming it this afternoon, saying they’ve been able to back up that negotiations have taken place.
They’ve not made a great deal of fuss about it, just stated that, according to their own information, talks have happened. Then, oddly, to fill the rest of the article they’ve used quotes Alan Stubbs gave to talkSPORT.
But although O Jogo considers the negotiations to be on, there’s another outlet who claims these talks are over already.
A Bola says that Everton have indeed spoken to Fonseca, but an offer from the Toffees was turned down by Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Premier League club reportedly also offered the manager a two-and-a-half-year contract with a very good salary. But money was never the point, especially because Fonseca has been receiving great offers, one of them from China.
Shakhtar’s intention is actually to renew the Paulo Fonseca’s contract with the club, where he has a quite impressive record of 56 wins in 73 games.
With his current deal with the Ukraine side expiring at the end of the season, A Bola claims his intention is to stay in Europe, although the next destination is still not defined.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sport Witness checked out Ukraine reports on Fonseca potentially moving to Everton, and it was pointed out the timing is perfect.
