According to Haberturk, Besiktas have identified two players to replace Cenk Tosun in the January transfer window.
Tosun has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, with recent reports the Premier League side are lining up a £20m bid for the Turkey international.
Haberturk claim the Besiktas board are looking for possible replacements if Tosun leaves the club in the new year. The Turkish newspaper haven’t revealed who Besiktas want to bring in to replace the Newcastle United target, but it seems they’re looking at the possibility of life without their star forward.
Besiktas currently have weighty debts, so getting £20m for Tosun would be good business for the club, and at the same time this would smash the record for a player leaving the Turkish league for Europe.
The forward was linked with a move to Newcastle United in the last window, when they had an offer of £8m rejected by Besiktas.
In recent weeks the Premier League side have revived their interest in Tosun after some impressive displays for his club, and they recently sent a scout to watch him for Turkey.
Given Tosun’s contract expires June 2019, Besiktas may not get these kind of offers again for the player, which will give the likes of Newcastle United hope in the next window.
