Liverpool have already got a major piece of business tied up ahead of the next summer transfer window.
Naby Keita will be arriving in a big money move from RB Leipzig, and whilst that’s a disappointment for the German club, it’s could be worse… Keita could be joining Bayern Munich.
Speaking to German magazine SportBild, Ralf Rangnick was asked if he’s relieved Keita will be moving to Liverpool rather than Munich, and whilst the obvious answer to that is ‘Yes, of course’, the RB chief preferred to take the question somewhere else.
“Jurgen Klopp’s playing style fits Naby,” Rangnick told SportBild. “And I assume that he is going to be looked after well in all areas.
“It would be better if he could stay with us. Naby is a player who makes the difference… but the transfer couldn’t be prevented. There’s too much money in the game. This is the only way for a club in Germany to pay for itself, apart from Bayern.”
It’s clear Rangnick will be sending Keita off with a heavy heart, but also with the best of wishes for the future.
Agreering a deal in advance was the happy medium for all involved, with Keita assured he’s getting a big transfer, whilst Liverpool and RB Leipzig know Bayern Munich can’t come in and snatch the player next summer.
