Estudiantes have released the details of Juan Foyth’s summer transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentine club have made their balance sheet public, as they always do and are required, and it shows a surplus, which is a good, but a growth of liabilities, which isn’t good.
The biggest sale was Foyth moving to Tottenham, and the official sales figures are €9.5m plus extra bonuses depending on how many games the central defender plays.
Given some of Tottenham’s sales in the past, Foyth could spend much of the next two seasons sat on the bench, regress rather than progress, and still be sold for €20m+… so Estudiantes will have some expectation.
On a wider note, Argentina’s El Dia point out that Estudiantes finances increasingly depend on bringing young players through and then selling them.
Foyth would have delivered more money to Estudiantes had he agreed a move to PSG, but the 19 year old was insistent on holding out for Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino.
