Swansea City made a special effort on Monday to calm fears over Wilfried Bony and a potential hamstring injury.

The Welsh club explained that Bony had been brought off against West Ham due to concerns over a tight hamstring, rather than him actually pulling anything.

Subsequent tests had revealed no damage to the striker, and therefore Swansea City cleared him to join Ivory Coast on international duty.

French newspaper L’Equipe, who cover the Ivory Coast closely, have it differently, saying Bony is one of a number of players missing for the next match due to injury.

The two claims clearly contradict each other, and Swansea fans will hope L’Equipe and/or the Ivory Coast are being premature and perhaps making assumptions.

Perhaps sitting out the national team’s next match, an away trip to Mali, wouldn’t be the worst plan of action for Bony. A tight hamstring could lead to something more serious if Bony is pushed too much.
