As you’ll know by now, Tottenham’s transfer window, other than selling Kyle Walker for a lot of money, hasn’t exactly been a great success.
It’s looking a bit better now that a potential deal for Davinson Sanchez appears to be edging closer, but still, it seems Spurs fans, and Mauricio Pochettino, would have liked to see a bit more movement by now.
Allegedly targeting a right-back to fill the void left by the Walker sale, the club are said to be interested in two options: Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier and Porto’s Ricardo Pereira.
While the former of the two is still waiting to find out if he can enter the United Kingdom or not, Spurs fans might want to know they aren’t the only ones interested in the latter.
According to Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium, Anderlecht were spotted scouting the right-back against Tondela, and it seems they might try and get him on loan.
In theory, it’s not the craziest of ideas since the 23-year-old spent the past two seasons at Nice on a temporary deal, where he excelled and ended up making a name for himself.
In reality, Pereira is now important for Porto and a loan to Anderlecht seems incredibly unlikely.
With just two years left on his contract, and Porto starting him in all four games so far, a loan might be more difficult to pull off today than it was in 2015, and the Portuguese club would probably want a sale.
The problem here is, even if Anderlecht aren’t the poorest of football clubs around, €25m (his release clause) is a bit more than their budget would allow.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this interest over the next few days, but the Belgians don’t appear to be a direct threat to Tottenham just yet.
