On Thursday, Rangers’ Cyriel Dessers came off the bench to score for Philippe Clement’s side in their 2-1 Europa League defeat to Manchester United.

The striker is disappointed with Rangers’ loss at Old Trafford and Sporza have covered comments made by him after the European tie.

Dessers has scored 17 goals and registered five assists from 34 games for Rangers this season.

Since the start of last month, Philippe Clement has favoured Hamza Igamane ahead of the 30-year-old to lead Rangers’ attack. The Moroccan has certainly impressed, and that has made it difficult for Dessers to get more minutes.

The frontman is well aware of this but believes he will get regular game time at Rangers in the rest of the campaign.

“He [Igamane] is a very good striker. It’s difficult for me for a while, but I just try to do my job in the minutes I get,” he said.

“A top club like Rangers plays around 65 matches a season. Then a second striker is not a luxury. And today [against United] we showed that we are also complementary.”

The Nigeria international’s situation at Ibrox has seen him get linked with a move to Spain and Italy in the winter market where CD Leganés, Empoli and Cagliari have been named as interested parties. Sporza asked him about a Rangers exit and he was diplomatic.

“As soon as you get less time to play, there will automatically be interest from other clubs. Just to see if I’m feasible,” Dessers explained.

“But at the moment I’m playing for Rangers. We play a match here every three days. I just have to do my job, and I enjoy it. I am happy and enjoy being here. But in the end, you always want to play.”

Dessers partly encouraged these rumours by stating Rangers could sell him in January. This is something he hasn’t taken into account since.
