Three days ago, Andrés García became Aston Villa’s second signing of the winter market, arriving after Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund.
The Premier League side have reportedly paid around £6m to buy García from Levante UD.
Earlier this week, El Dia de Cordoba reported the right-back’s move to Aston Villa is one of the most important sales of the Spanish second division. Levante are struggling financially and the 21-year-old’s sale to the Villans will drastically improve their accounts.
The Segunda División take on Deportivo de La Coruña in the league on Saturday. Their manager, Julián Calero, talked about the new Aston Villa signing in the pre-match press conference and Levante-EMV have relayed his comments.
García made 22 league appearances for Levante this season and Calero stated the club are working on bringing in a replacement for him.
The manager insists that even though his side have raised funds from the fullback’s sale to Unai Emery’s side, they can’t utilise all of it to bring in reinforcements.
“We have deposited money for Andrés and some think that our pockets are full, and we have cobwebs. Money is for other things, especially for debt,” he said.
Calero wants to dampen the expectation around incomings, and pretty much all the money from Aston Villa will already be accounted for.
García’s arrival could see Aston Villa let Kosta Nedeljković go out on loan in this window.
