Friday’s edition of Turkish newspaper Sabah has a big splash on Nottingham Forest and their alleged attempts to sign Barış Alper Yılmaz from Galatasaray.

The headline which jumps out is ‘Bye Bye Nottingham’ and the Sabah slant is that Galatasaray are confident they can fight the Premier League club and keep the Turkish international.

Yılmaz has a contract until 2026 with the Super Lig club. The 24-year-old attacker, who mainly plays on the right but is quite versatile, has scored nine goals and added one assist in 26 matches this season.

Sabah report Nottingham Forest have already had a €25m offer rejected rejected by Galatasaray, although they don’t make it clear when that bid happened.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side ‘did not give up’ after that and the Turkish newspaper report they’re ready to return and try again with a fresh attempt.

Galatasaray are set against a sale in this window, and it’s claimed they want to build their squad around Yılmaz.

The player’s views on the situation aren’t shared, and that’s going to be key in this window and the next.
